Rules Governing Different Versions
Texas Hold'em and Omaha Hold'em are great poker games in their own way. They follow the basic rules that are universal with a few variations. The variation is in the way the cards are initially dealt. Wherein the Texas version two cards are dealt face down, as is usual, in the Omaha version four cards are dealt.
You, of course, are allowed to use only two cards when you create your hand. The advantage of this variation is that you can create great action with the four cards. Remember this poker rule when you are playing Omaha Hold'em online. At showdown, you need to use only to hole cards along with three community cards.
When paying the Texas version, you need to have three or more community cards to make a flush. The variation in the Omaha version is that you need two suited cards.
Basic Rules
You need to put up your stake even before the first card is dealt. This is done either through an Ante or Blind.
- Ante - Ante is a predetermined amount that is contributed to the pot before every hand. This is not a bet but just a way to get the game on its way.
- Blind - This is a forced bet and is so called as you are required to put in your bet without seeing your cards. The amount of blind bets is predetermined before the start of the game. It is a practice that the two players on the left of the dealer place the blind bets, known as little blind and big blind.
The only difference is that the Ante is not a bet whereas the Blind is the player's first bet and players cannot check.
To enjoy all the different variations of this great game ensure that you are conversant with every poker rule of the particular variation you intend to play.
